Former Oracle co-President Now Heads Infor
After leaving his post as co-president (with Safra Catz) of Oracle in 2010, Charles Phillips emerge last September 2010 as the new CEO of Georgia-based Infor Global Solutions, now considered the 3rd largest ERP solutions provider in the world after SAP and Oracle. It is said that on the same day he left, Hewlett-Packard former CEO Mark Hurd took over his vacated post while sitting in the Infor Board. He replaced former Infor CEO Jim Schaper whose stellar performance should not be difficult for Charles to match or even exceed. Jim has been moved as Infor’s board chairman and a senior partner at Golden Globe Capital, Infor’s main owners.
The expectation in the industry is that Charles Phillips certainly can, especially with an experience at Oracle that prepares him to face familiar challenges at Infor. Charles was the main driver in Oracle’s $30 billion acquisition of 60 IT firms and Infor has followed the same footsteps with an eye to more aggressive ERP acquisitions like Epicor and Lawson Software.
With a 300% record growth rate during his watch at Oracle, Charles is expected to better the 59% growth rate that former CEO Jim Schaper delivered over the years. Infor has also released its next generation ERP application with a common GUI across its applications which are familiar with the middleware GUI Oracle implemented under Charles’ watch. In addition, Charles Phillips provides a leadership credibility that is indispensable to bolster public confidence when it realizes its plans to file an IPO soon.
